Staying on Purpose and finding the Meaning of Success
Yesterday, We had a brief discussion on the Purpose of everything we do in life. Today, We’ll have a look at How to Stay on the Purpose and avoid getting distracted. Before proceeding further, If you have not read my previous post, I recommend you to read the post here as this post is a continuation of it.
One of the most important differences between Dreamer and Achiever is that both know their purpose of life but An achiever is Focused in Staying on the Purpose whereas Dreamer gets distracted and does not focus on staying on the purpose of life.
One of the easy ways to be Focused on our Purpose is to write it on a piece of paper and stick it in the work area where we will see it every day. Another approach to clarifying our purpose is to set aside some time for self-reflection that is meditation. Meditation is a process of disconnecting from the Outer noise and getting deeply connected to one’s inner self. After attaining a state of relaxation and peacefulness, we need to ask our inner self, What is my purpose of living? What is my unique role in this universe? The answer needs to come from the inner self.
Once we get the answer from our inner self, next is to write down the Definition of success for you? what does success look like for you?
Success is a Subjective word. It differs from person to person. For many of us, Success might be to attain Financial Freedom, to have a tension free life, to have strong relationships, to attain a certain degree of spirituality in life, and so on.
One of the main reasons why people don’t get what they want is they haven’t decided on what they want. They have not defined their desires in clear and compelling detail.
Inside of every one of us, there is a tiny seed of YOU which you were meant to become. A major obstacle that comes in the way of you becoming what you have desired is Early Childhood programming which others have brilliantly instilled on us.
A great example of this is, In 3 Idiots movie, Farhan Qureshi had a burning desire to become a wildlife photographer but he feared what his parents, teachers, relatives, and neighbors would tell and ends up getting frustrated being in an Engineering college.
When we all started up as a baby, we knew exactly what we wanted and we would get it by crying or doing some other thing irrespective of what others think about us. We would head straight towards our desires without any fear.
As we grew older, most of us lost touch with the needs of our bodies and the desires of our hearts and somehow got stuck trying to figure out what other people wanted from us. As a result of it, we do a lot of things we don’t want to do but do it only to please other people. In the name of being sensible, we end up becoming numb to our desires.
Conclusion
We all need to learn how Not to live someone else’s dream. We can start on the smallest level by honoring our preferences and not compromising with it in every situation life throws at us — No matter how large or small the situation is. They might be inconsequential to someone else, but for us, it is a small guiding light providing a ray of hope that we have started on giving preference to our desires over others.
In the next post, we’ll discuss how to set our vision of our IDEAL life.
